SUSI Economic Empowerment: 💸Develop your Financial Skills in the United States 🗽

The United States Embassy in Morocco offers Moroccan students an exceptional opportunity for personal and academic development through the Study of the US Institute for Global Student Leaders on Economic Empowerment. This five-week program will be held at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, from June 22 to July 25, 2024 (tentative dates). The program may be adjusted to a virtual format if health, safety, and travel conditions require it. This is an exceptional opportunity for Moroccan students to gain a deep understanding of the United States while strengthening their leadership skills.

SUSI offers an intensive academic program designed to deepen understanding of the United States while developing leadership skills. It consists of a four-week academic residency that includes seminar discussions, readings, group presentations, and lectures. In addition, field trips, leadership development, cultural activities, and community service round out the program.

The SUSI on Economic Empowerment will address a variety of topics related to entrepreneurship, including social enterprises, business leadership, and women’s economic empowerment. Academic sessions will be enriched with hands-on workshops aimed at developing skills in these areas. Participants will have the opportunity to examine entrepreneurial approaches in the United States and around the world, including social capital strategies for sustainable economic development, financial literacy, banking, microfinance, organizational development and management, innovation, emerging markets and risk analysis, strategic planning, corporate social responsibility, and minority entrepreneurship.

If conditions permit, the program will begin with an Opening Forum in Washington, DC, providing opportunities for networking, leadership skills development, and exploration of relevant topics from a multi-regional perspective. Participants will be encouraged to develop innovative and practical plans to become engaged citizens in their own communities.

To participate, applicants must be proficient in English, between the ages of 18 and 25, be college students, and demonstrate strong leadership potential. They must not have prior study or travel experience in the United States or abroad. Participants must be willing to fully commit to an intensive academic program, community service activities, and educational travel. The Embassy will facilitate internet access for participants if the program is conducted virtually.
