The Parascolaire Educational Institution Ranking evaluates institutions based on their students’ engagement and performance throughout an academic year. This system uses the average Points Per Student (PPS), calculated as the cumulative points of students divided by the number of students, to ensure fairness and prevent bias toward institutions with high student counts.
Ranking Process #
Institutions are ranked based on the following criteria:
- PPS Calculation: The total points earned by all students affiliated with an institution are summed, and then divided by the total number of students. This includes points from individual actions and deductions from quiz failures, providing a balanced measure of engagement.
- Annual Evaluation: Rankings are calculated annually, aligning with the academic year cycle, with updates occurring biweekly to reflect current performance.
- Buffer Period: A biweekly buffer period is implemented to ensure an institution’s activities adhere to Parascolaire regulations and that their organizers have not committed any behavior that inflates the institution’s performance or offers their students an unfair advantage in their engagement. During this period, compliance is verified.
- Ranking Methodology: Institutions are ranked by their PPS, with higher averages indicating stronger overall participation per student. In case of ties, additional metrics such as the number of highly engaged participants may be considered.
- Penalties and Disqualification: If an institution or its organizers are found to engage in behavior that artificially boosts performance or provides unfair advantages (e.g., manipulating points or encouraging unethical participation), the institution will face point deductions. Severe violations may result in disqualification from the Parascolaire Institution ranking.
- Institutional Benefits: Top-ranked institutions may gain visibility, resources, or incentives, encouraging them to promote active and fair student participation.
