The Parascolaire Quiz Builder is a powerful tool designed to help you create interactive, engaging quizzes for your participants. It offers 8 modern, versatile question types to assess participants’ activity material understanding effectively. It also provides several customization options to tailor each quiz perfectly to suit your needs.
Quiz Creation #
To start creating quizzes, go to the Curriculum section, and you’ll find the +Quiz button there. This will open the Quiz Builder window, where you’ll first need to enter the quiz title and description. Once that’s done, you can proceed to create your quizzes.
Parascolaire lets you add 8 different types of questions. These are:
- True/False
- Multiple Choice
- Open Ended/Essay
- Fill in the Blanks
- Short Answer
- Matching
- Image Answering
- Ordering
To add quiz questions, click the large blue plus button next to the Questions section and select the type of question you wish to add to your activity.
Question Types #
1. True/False #
The True/False question type allows you to create simple and direct questions where participants choose between two options: True or False. This question type is ideal for testing basic understanding or verifying factual knowledge.
To add a True/False type question:
- Navigate to the quiz editor and select the True/False question type from the options.
- Add the question and a description to the Question field (description is optional).
- Specify whether the statement is True or False.
- In the Answer Explanation section, provide a concise yet informative explanation to help participants understand the correct answers and the reasoning behind them. Participants can access the explanation from the Quiz Details page only after they’ve completed the quiz.
2. Multiple Choice #
The Multiple Choice question type is a versatile and commonly used format in quizzes and assessments. This type allows you to present participants with a question and multiple answer options, from which they must choose the correct one. Multiple Choice questions can have either a single correct answer or multiple correct answers, depending on the configuration.
To create a Multiple Choice question:
- Navigate to the quiz or question editor and select the Multiple Choice question type.
- In the Question field, enter your question clearly and concisely.
- Add answer options by clicking the + Add Option button. You can also include images with the answers (optimal resolution: 700×430 pixels).
- Indicate the correct answer by selecting the checkbox next to the appropriate option.
- Enable the Multiple Correct Answer toggle on the right side to allow multiple correct answers, then select the correct answers from the left side.
3. Open Ended/Essay #
The Open-Ended/Essay question type is designed for in-depth, subjective responses where participants can provide detailed answers.
To create an Open-Ended/Essay question:
- Select the Open-Ended/Essay question type in the quiz editor.
- Input the question title and description.
- Optionally, set a character limit for the essay in the Quiz settings section.
4. Fill in the Blanks #
The “Fill in the Blanks” question type in Parascolaire lets organizers create quiz questions where participants complete sentences by filling in missing words or phrases.
To create a Fill in the Blanks question:
- Select the Fill in the Blanks quiz type.
- Add the title and description of the quiz.
- Add the question and use the variable {dash} to indicate a blank space where the participant needs to input an answer.
- In the Correct Answer(s) input box, specify the correct answers for the blanks. For a single blank, write the answer as is. For multiple blanks, list answers in the same order as the blanks, separated by a vertical bar (|). Example: For the question “Water is made up of {dash} and {dash}.” with answers Hydrogen and Oxygen, enter “Hydrogen | Oxygen”.
- Optionally, provide an explanation in the Answer Explanation section to offer detailed feedback or context after the quiz is submitted.
5. Short Answer #
The Short Answer question type in Parascolaire allows you to test participants’ knowledge with concise, text-based responses.
To create a Short Answer question:
- Select the Short Answer question type from the list.
- Input the question title and description.
- Optionally, set a character limit for the response in the Quiz settings section.
6. Matching #
The Matching Quiz type in Parascolaire is designed to test participants’ ability to pair related items from two separate lists. In a Matching quiz, you provide two sets of items—typically, one list of terms or questions and another list of corresponding answers or definitions. Participants need to connect pairings between items in the two lists by dragging the options.
To create a Matching question:
- In the question field, enter the question title and description.
- Add options by clicking the + Add Option button.
- In the option fields, input the question and its corresponding matched answer, which will serve as the correct pair.
- Optionally, enable the Image Matching option from the right sidebar to add images to the options.
- Click the Save button at the top right corner to finalize.
7. Image Answering #
The Image Answering quiz type in Parascolaire allows you to create interactive questions where participants select or identify answers associated with images. This type of question is ideal for visual-based assessments, such as identifying objects, locations, or matching visual content with text descriptions.
To create an Image Answering question:
- Enter the question title in the Question field. Optionally, include a description for additional context or instructions.
- Click the Add Image button to upload an image (optimal resolution: 700×430 pixels).
- Use the Write option text box to add a description or label that corresponds to the image.
- To include more answer options, click the + Add Option button and repeat the process.
- Click the Ok button to confirm the options, then click the Save button at the top-right corner to finalize.
- Optionally, provide an explanation for the correct answer in the Write answer explanation field to help participants understand the reasoning behind the correct response.
8. Ordering #
The Ordering question type allows you to set a question where participants must reorder the given text, images, or both in the correct sequence to obtain marks.
To create an Ordering question:
- Select the Ordering question type in the quiz editor.
- Input the question title and description.
- Add the items (text, images, or both) that participants need to reorder.
- Specify the correct sequence for the items.
- Click the Save button to finalize the question.
